2016 Research Poster Presentations

OMM research Competition

The AAO Louisa Burns Osteopathic Research Committee (LBORC) and the National Undergraduate Fellows Association (NUFA) conducted their annual research poster competition on Friday, March 18, during the AAO’s Convocation in Orlando, Florida.

Open to osteopathic medical students, interns, residents, postdoctoral fellows, researchers and practicing physicians, the competition drew 56 posters this year on topics ranging from ultrasound imaging to bilateral meralgia paresthetica and peripheral neuropathy.

Posters in the following categories were submitted: clinical research, education and public health, and case study. Winning four out of nine slots, students from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury gained the most recognition among student submissions. Residents from the University of North Texas Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth swept the clinical research and public health and education categories.

The table below lists the winning authors in the 2016 competition and the titles of their 16 posters. All OMS designations in the table are based on the students’ standing in the 2015-16 academic year, during which the competition took place. You can view individual posters and abstracts online as available.

The committee appreciates the assistance provided by volunteers in judging the poster presentations. Judges for the 2016 event included Reem Abu-Sbaih, DO; Katrine Bengaard, DO; Susan Bentley, DO; Denise K. Burns, DO, FAAO; Michael Aaron Chipman, DO; Chelsea A.
