Each year the UAAO gives out two awards to recognize outstanding local UAAO Chapters. These awards are given at the annual Convocation. The two awards that are given each year are the Chapter of the Year and the Outreach Chapter of the Year. Occasionally we give out other awards based upon special merit! Eligibility is based on each chapter's activities. Chapter Year End Reports are used to calculate VIP points and evaluate the involvement of each chapter in school activities and the surrounding community. Information about how to file your year end report can be found in the UAAO Chapter Notebook on pages 55-57. Please contact the UAAO National Coordinator with any questions regarding Year End Reports. Chapters that do not submit a Year End Report, or who are not in attendance at the Wednesday UAAO Board of Governor's meeting at Convocation are not eligible for these awards. UAAO Chapter of the Year This award is presented to the UAAO Chapter that most exemplifies the spirit of UAAO. The local UAAO chapter that has accumulated the most VIP points throughout the year is awarded the Chapter of the Year. VIP points are earned by meeting deadlines outlined within the Chapter Notebook, tallying membership percentages, donating auction items, and participating in UAAO sponsored events. This award is presented at the President's Banquet on Saturday evening of Convocation. Remember, this is a team effort! All members of the local UAAO chapter should be involved, not just one or two individuals. UAAO Outreach Chapter of the Year This award is presented to the chapter that demonstrates outstanding involvement in both their school and surrounding community. Chapter Year End Reports are used by the UAAO executive Council to evaluate each chapter's involvement. It is to your chapter's advantage to include all UAAO related activities in your Year End Report, even if they do not qualify for VIP points. The numbers of UAAO members participating in community events is also beneficial. The quality as well as quantity of outreach events are taken into consideration when selecting the winner of this award. Community outreach activities that utilize osteopathic principles and practice are given higher value. Consideration is also given to the level of involvement and the impact on the community involved. This award is voted on by the UAAO Executive Council at the annual Convocation each year. It is based solely on the information contained in the Year End Reports, and is presented at the President's Banquet on Saturday evening of Convocation. Good luck everyone!
