An update from the American Osteopathic Association was presented by AOA President Boyd R. Buser, DO, FACOFP. Academy award recipient was Angela Cole Westhoff, MA; and Resident of the Year recipient was Lauren J. Leslie, DO.

Constitution and Bylaws amendments were approved to allow resident and student member liaisons a vote on AAO committees, and duplicate items were deleted from several sections.

O’Connell, DO, MPH, FAAO; and trustees, Kendi L. Hensel, DO, PhD (re-elected); and Paul R. Rennie, DO, FAAO; resident trustee, Jared E. Dropkin, DO; and student trustee, Sierra A. Grasso, OMS IV.

Visiting from the American Osteopathic Association was AOA President John W. Becher, DO. Academy award recipient was Paul R. Standley, PhD, and Resident of the Year recipient was Kristie M. Petree, DO.

Visiting from the AOA was Mark S. Cantieri, DO, FAAO, AOA trustee. Academy award recipient was Diana L. Finley, CMP, and Resident of the Year recipient was Eileen M. Conaway, DO.

Special meeting of the membership in June approved the constitution and bylaws amendments to add a student member to the AAO Board of Trustees, and that members of the Board of Trustees must also be a member in good standing with the American Osteopathic Association.

Visiting from the AOA were Norman E. Vinn, DO, AOA President; Robert S. Juhasz, DO, AOA President-elect; and Adrienne White-Faines, AOA Executive Director. Academy award recipient was Richard A. Vincent and Resident of the Year recipient was Eileen M. Conaway, DO.

Constitution and Bylaws amendments were approved to add a resident member to the Board of Trustees, establish a Supporter membership category, and to clarify component society membership and reporting requirements.

Constitution and Bylaws amendments were approved to clarify the definition of the Full membership category and remove the category of paid Life Membership.

New Ideas Forum 2019

AAO members who submit the most promising proposals for advancing osteopathic manipulative medicine will be given 15 to 30 minutes to outline their thoughts, demonstrate their techniques and field questions from their peers.

Giving Tuesday Is Nov. 27

Help AAO knock out its fundraising goal on Tuesday, Nov. 27. First established in 2012, Giving Tuesday encourages people to prioritize charitable giving during the busy holiday shopping season.

AAO Recognized for Contributions to Profession

On Saturday, July 21, the AAO was one of four recipients of the American Osteopathic Association’s 2019 STARs (Strategic Team Award and Recognition) for its dedication to advancing osteopathic medicine. The STARs recognize contributions made by state, specialty and regional affiliates, colleges of osteopathic medicine, osteopathic postdoctoral training institutions (OPTIs), and nonpractice affiliates that have advanced the osteopathic profession. The award honors programs and activities that align with the initiatives in the AOA’s strategic plan.
