SERVICE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Established in 2008, Verband der Osteopathen Deutschland, the German division of the European Federation of Osteopaths (EFO). The EFO, generously offers a grant to one American osteopathic student for a full expenses paid trip to the EFO’s annual International Congress of Osteopathy, which takes place annually in October. This is a service oriented grant. The main focus of the Scholarship will be service to the community, with preference to OMM related service. The student should be a shining member of the osteopathic community, display an exceptional personality and serve the students as well as the entire osteopathic profession. The objective of this scholarship is to build bridges between young osteopaths of the U.S. and Germany.
One student from each school will be identified as an eligible candidate. The field will then be narrowed down to award the grant to a single recipient. Announcement of the grant award will be announced at the AAO Annual Convocation in March at the Dinner Banquet. The scholarship will include a one week stay with all expenses paid to the EFO convention and will be offered every year to one lucky osteopathic student.
Rules and Regulations:
Student must be a UAAO member.
Students should submit their application to their Chapter Advisor. Each Chapter Advisor may submit one member of their Chapter in to be considered for the scholarship.
Service activities limited to the time frame of osteopathic medical education.
The UAAO Board of Governors (BOG) will vote to determine the recipient of the award during the BOG meeting on the Wednesday at Convocation and must be present to vote.
All UAAO members are eligible for the award. Any applicant on the UAAO BOG will be excluded from the voting process.
The application should be submitted no later than March 1st.
The submission should include:
Letter of recommendation from the Chapter Advisor
Application from the student
Curriculum Vitae from the student (No more than 2 pages in length)
An essay outlining their accomplishments of Osteopathic service as a medical student (750 word limit)
The scholarship will be granted at the AAO Convocation banquet held on Saturday night of convocation
The chosen candidate does not have to be present to win. However, an officer from the UAAO chapter of the chosen candidate must accept in absence of the person.
The winner of scholarship must utilize the scholarship within 5 years from the year received or the scholarship will expire.
Vickie E. Dyson Scholarship
- $400 Scholarship for UAAO Members Completing a four week elective OMM Rotation
Requirements:
1. Preceptor must be a qualified UAAO Vickie E Dyson Preceptor
2. Student must fill out a Vickie E Dyson Scholarship Application
3. Student must submit an essay about the experience, the strength of the essay will serve to decide between multiple applicants from the same chapter
