PAAO at the AAO ConvocationUpdated July 25, 2010 Every March the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO) convenes an annual meeting known as the Convocation of the American Academy of Osteopathy. This gathering offers classes, workshops, and lectures to physicians and students geared toward improving osteopathic manipulative skills and philosophy. Annual Elections and Business Meeting The location for PAAO annual business meeting is TBA. Lunch will be provided. Please plan to attend so that you may be updated on current NMM/OMM topics, what the PAAO has accomplished this year, and our work towards the future. PAAO Mixer PAAO will hold its second annual mixer in 2011. Through the support of generous donors this event will be funded and will be a great opportunity to connect with other PAAO members. Time and location TBA.
Resident of the Year Award This year, the AAO will be accepting nominations for the AAO Resident of the Year Award. To Whom Awarded: The Award shall be conferred by the Academy to recognize the Resident who has contributed that year to the Academy, to osteopathic principles and practices in their residency program, and has participated in Academy events, including, but not limited to, AAO Convocation, AOA Annual Convention, and/or other AAO educational programs. Nominations: Potential recipients must be nominated via any AAO component or osteopathic approved residency program. Only one nomination per component or residency will be accepted. Submission deadline is December 31st 2009. Individuals nominated for this honor MUST exhibit osteopathic principles and practices at their residency programs and encourage other residents, faculty and students to continue to use osteopathic principles and practice during their residency career. Required Information: From the Nominator: 1. A completed nomination form (link to be posted here shortly) 2. A letter describing how the nominee meets the above listed criteria From the potential recipient: 1. A current CV or resume 2. A personal statement (of less than one page) describing why they feel qualified to recieve this award. It should demonstrate a commitment to osteopathic philosophy and the profession as well as leadership skills, and accomplishments demonstrating their role as a leader. 3.
