PAAO MembershipUpdated March 30, 2010 The AAO leadership created the PAAO to address the unique needs of interns and residents. Membership in the PAAO is open to osteopathic medical graduates currently receiving internship or residency training in any specialty. While the special postgraduate dues rate is only $38, your membership has a value of over $600. As a PAAO member, you will receive The AAO Journal, The AAO Newsletter, and the annual Directory. Additional benefits include a discount on registration for all AAO educational programs, including the Annual Convocation (excludes the AOA Convention) and significant savings on most publications from the AAO Bookstore, where you will find material on OMT that you cannot find elsewhere. The PAAO is intended to provide a forum for addressing those needs unique to interns and residents during the transition from UAAO to AAO membership. It is a great opportunity to become more involved in the AAO. The PAAO Committee holds a voting seat on the AAO Board of Governors, providing the PAAO representative greater voice in policy making. PAAO members also hold seats on the C-NMM/OMM committe, the Louisa Burns Osteopathic Research committee, the OPTI Liason committee, the Membership committee, and the Informational Technologies committee. We hope you will support the PAAO with your membership and help make this new organization a success. As officers of the PAAO we believe that the AAO serves an important purpose in advocating the study, practice and philosophy of osteopathic manipulative medicine. Through educational courses, research projects and literature, the AAO emphasizes the integration of osteopathic principles, practice and manipulative treatment in patient care. We have benefited greatly in our own training from these educational opportunities, and know that you will too! If you have any questions about membership, leadership positions, convocation, or issues related to postgraduate OMT, feel free to contact the AAO or e-mail me at paaochair@academyofosteopathy.org.
