HOW to Register:

Login to the AAO mainpage using the "login" button at the bottom of the left column. Use your email address from when you joined the UAAO, if you don't have a password yet, one will be emailed to you. If you have trouble contact Susan Lightle at slightle@academyofosteopathy.org or 317/879-1881. After logged in click on the "AAO Convocation" button in the middle of the left column. Then click the register on-line "Student" button.

Don't forget to sign up for a mentor! This is a new program that we are starting this year to help guide students along their career paths and promote OMM during clinical rotations. 

 

Returns home to the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs!

Every March the AAO convenes an annual meetign known as Convocation. This is an extremely student friendly convention that offers classes, workshops, and lectures to physicians and students. UAAO members have the opportunity to meet with and learn from some of the best osteopathic physicians from around the country or even the world

Events and activities include:

  • *New ths year* The UAAO will be offering a mentor program
  • Evening with the stars
  • The student social
  • A. Hollis Wolf Competition
  • Daily workshops
  • Lectures
  • Opportunities to make contacts for 3rd and 4th year rotations
  • Meet other sudents from every Osteopathic school in the country

Options for traveling and lodging:

Airports:

-          Denver

-          Colorado Springs

 

Hotels:

        Broadmoor

        Several Hotels in Colorado Springs ( ~ 3 miles away) $85 and up/night

 

Rental Car: Only necessary if driving in from Denver or staying in Colorado Springs and not at the Broadmoor.  Ex. a 5 passenger vehicle for $600 per week out of the Denver airport.

 

Pros and Cons: You may save money by flying into Denver, renting a car for a week and staying at a less expensive hotel in Colorado Springs. The down side is you will be away from all the fun and action at the Broadmoor and will spend valuable time commuting back and forth.

Itinerary for the week

Wednesday: 
• UAAO Business meeting - all chapters must have a representative present. We recommend a current and a newly elected President and National Representative (8-5). 
• Evening with the "Stars and Stripes" (9-11)

Thursday:
• Morning workshops and afternoon lectures (8-5).
• Student Social: more information below (5-8). 
• Evening with the "Stars and Stripes" (8 - 10)

Friday:
• Morning workshops and afternoon lectures (8-5).

• UAAO Luncheon - elect
new officers (11:30-12:45)

• UAAO Auction (5-6:30).
• Practice for A. Hollis
Wolf - Immediatly following the auction

Saturday:
• Morning lectures.
• A. Hollis Wolfe Case Presentation Competition (1-3).
• Harold A. Blood DO, FAAO memorial lecture (3-4)
• Student Award Presentations (4-4:30).
• Introduction to NMM residency training (4:30-5).
• President's Reception and Banquet (6:30-9:30)      

Sunday:  
• UAAO Executive Board meeting (7-10)
• Morning lectures (7:30-11:45)

This is a great event to meet UAAO members form other schools and have fun

UAAO Semi-Silent Auction
Friday March 19th
5:00 – 6:30pm

This year we will have a silent auction prior to the live auction.

The Auctions will include several items donated by Harold I. Magoun Jr., DO, FAAO
 

• This is a major fundraiser every year at Convocation for the UAAO.

• Request auction donations from your Dean, Faculty, and Businesses

• Chapters are required to provide volunteers to help at the auction and are encouraged to donate items for the auction (VIP points).
• The best items are original ideas (limit one t-shirt per chapter).
• Help us make this the best auction ever!
